NPP Leaders met Amnesty International's South Asia Regional Director

Amnesty Inte ational's South Asia Regional Director Yamini Misha, Senior Director Deprose Muchena, Rehab Mahamoor, Thyagi Ruwanpathirana, Baburam Pant met ab NPP delegation that included NPP Leader Anura Dissanayake, National Executive Member Vijitha Herath, at the JVP headquarters today (29th). National Executive Members Lawyer Harshana Nanayakkara and Muditha Nanayakkara were also present.
The AI representatives drew the attention of the NPP to the 2022 annual report of the organization on the human rights situation in Sri Lanka, for which the NPP thanked them.
The NPP representatives briefed the delegation about the new Anti-Terrorism Act, which is about to be implemented by the current gove ment, the disregard of court rulings, the use of tear gas containing banned chemicals against protests, and the gove ment's human rights violations.
